This is my first blog entry ever.
Had I not seen the video of that student being tasered by University of Florida campus police today, this blog would not exist. I was so incensed and outraged, that I decided to let my feelings on the matter be known. After watching a kid get repeatedly shocked for trying to ask a question, I sent this message to John Kerry via his website:
"Senator Kerry, for your failure to do anything while an innocent kid was repeatedly shocked in front of you, I am disgusted. Instead of standing up for that kid's freedom of speech, you ummmed and ooohhhhed and asked everyone to calm down. You could have stopped him from being tortured. You could have said SOMETHING. Instead you did nothing. That is why the people of this country did not want you as their president. When faced with a tough situation, you do nothing."
When a defenseless person is roughed up by the police, the media jumps all over it. When US troops in Iraq kill terrorizing thugs, the media requests a federal investigation. When hippies get smacked with billy clubs by police officers for throwing rocks, it becomes an "important" part of American history. But if a kid asks a couple of tough questions to a Democrat Senator, the media ignores it.
If anyone knows how I can help out in the defense of that student, be he democrat, republican, independent, or otherwise, please let me know via this blog.
